Xue Ma is an award-winning writer, director, and producer based in Boston. Working across Asia, Europe, and North America, her films explore desire, memory, displacement, and the emotional tensions that emerge between cultures.

Her debut feature, White River, premiered in the Bright Future section of the 52nd International Film Festival Rotterdam. Her second feature, Sonata of Wave, received the Best Director Award at the Los Angeles Independent Women Film Awards. Her latest feature Wilde’s Room was shot in Paris and is in post-production. Her next project Family Matters is currently in development.

As a producer, Ma’s recent credits include Border, selected for the Main Competition of the 74th San Sebastián International Film Festival; Against the Flow, which premiered in the International Narrative Competition at the 25th Tribeca Festival; and the short film Last Train, selected for the Golden Goblet competition at the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival.
